LOGOS is pleased to announce that it will develop a state of the art, purpose built high bay warehouse and office facility for Asahi Beverages at the Heathwood Logistics Estate, Brisbane.
Asahi Beverages is one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and marketers of beverages and is part of Asahi Group Holdings, a leading Japanese beer, spirits, soft drinks and food company. Asahi Beverages has pre-committed to an initial 20 year lease term and will become the estate’s first occupant following LOGOS’ acquisition of the Heathwood site in early 2016. LOGOS will develop the c.20,000 sqm purpose built, high bay warehouse and office facility with handover anticipated in October 2017. The Asahi Beverages facility also include a future expansion area for a further 4,500 sqm of warehousing.
The project’s approval received a high level of support from Brisbane City Council and its economic development board, Brisbane Marketing. Set to turn the first sod of soil on 8 December 2016, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the commitment from both LOGOS and Asahi Beverages demonstrates Brisbane’s attractiveness as a premier investment destination in the Asia Pacific.
“As one of Brisbane’s key logistics precincts, the Heathwood Logistics Estate is an ideal location for the development of this new state-of-the-art warehousing facility.” Cr Quirk said.
“The Brisbane 2022 New World City Action Plan identified food and agribusiness as a key growth sector for the city, so we welcome the international investment from both LOGOS and Asahi Beverages in Brisbane.”
Asahi Beverages Chief Supply Chain Officer, Wayne Angus said “We are delighted to announce that Asahi Beverages will be relocating its distribution centre in Queensland to the purpose-built Heathwood Logistics Estate. As a major beverage company, we are excited by the opportunity to move into a highly efficient and well positioned distribution centre, which will enable us to better serve our customers. We are pleased to be making a significant investment in our long-term future in Queensland.”
“We are especially grateful to the Brisbane City Council who has been very supportive throughout the approval process, and we look forward to their continued positive engagement.”
Additionally, LOGOS’ Joint Managing Director John Marsh said “we look forward to working with Asahi Beverages to deliver their newest distribution facility, including the provision of approximately 12,000 sqm of state of the art automated warehousing systems. We are now seeing a larger number of our customers moving to automated warehouse solutions and this will set the benchmark for the quality of facilities we can provide across our estates in Australia and the region.”
The Heathwood Logistics Estate is a 25-hectare prime, development site located in the established logistics precinct of Heathwood in South-Brisbane, Queensland. The site occupies a premier position directly along the Logan Motorway providing superior vehicular exposure and access. The Logan Motorway is the main arterial road in South Brisbane and links up with the Ipswich Motorway, Centenary Highway and the Gateway Motorway. This network of roads provides strategic logistics solutions, with excellent access to the Port of Brisbane and Brisbane Airport via the Gateway Motorway and interstate transit routes to Sydney and Melbourne. The Heathwood Logistics Estate can accommodate a further 110,000 sqm of development for premium logistics and warehouse use and upon full build out the estates value is expected to be c. $275 million.
LOGOS’ Joint Managing Director, Trent Iliffe said: “Heathwood is one of Brisbane’s premier logistics precincts and our estate offers superior access on and off the Logan Motorway and is located around the centre of Brisbane’s retail distribution network. Many of Australia’s largest retailers are located in the
Heathwood precinct including Coles and Woolworths. The site also offers very good exposure to the Logan Motorway for those groups looking for this upside. Asahi Beverages’ commitment to partner with LOGOS at this site is a testament to both location and quality of our offering at the Heathwood Logistics Estate.”
The Heathwood Logistics Estate is one of several prime, development sites owned by the LOGOS Australia Logistics Venture (“LALV”), being a partnership established in late 2014 between LOGOS and its capital partners with a strategy to acquire and develop prime, logistics estates across Australia.
