LOGOS officially opened Stage 1 of its $230 million Marsden Park Logistics Estate today with the NSW Minister for Western Sydney, the Hon. Stuart Ayres, Blacktown City Council Lord Mayor, Stephen Bali and its tenants celebrating the completion and commencement of operations of the first four facilities on the Estate.
LOGOS purchased the Hollinsworth Road site in 2016 and is developing it into a 100,000sqm prime logistics estate. The Estate offers excellent transport access to the M7, M4 and the NSW State Government’s planned M9 Orbital meaning it is well positioned to service greater Sydney, NSW and beyond.
Stage 1 commenced in late 2018 with the development of a purpose built 6,224sqm facility for the global produce distributors, Valleyfresh and a 12,515sqm facility for eStore Logistics, Australia’s largest third-party logistics provider. Given the strong tenant demand in Western Sydney, LOGOS also developed two speculative properties as part of this initial stage, with Lyppard (subsidiary of EBOS Group), a veterinary wholesale distributor, committing to the 3,563sqm facility and a prominent Australian retailer committing to the 11,640sqm facility.
Over 650 jobs will be created through the development of the overall Estate, with the initial four tenants employing over 200 employees across their facilities.
Minister for Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres, said: “A better connected city with more jobs closer to home is exactly what we want to create for Western Sydney. Establishing a significant Logistics Estate in Marsden Park which has room to grow shows the sort of vision and major investment helping drive this city into the future. It’s great to see Stage 1 completed and it will be exciting to see the transformation here over the next 18 months as hundreds of people take up the opportunity to work closer to where they live in Western Sydney”.
Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali MP said: “Western Sydney is the fastest growing region and economy in Australia and Blacktown City is the powerhouse at the centre of Western Sydney.
“We have a $17.1 billion regional economy supporting 130-thousand jobs and the Marsden Park Logistics Estate forms a vital part in the sustainable industrial development of the region that is driving our strong economy.”
LOGOS’s Head of Australia and New Zealand, Darren Searle said: “Marsden Park is a key asset in our Sydney portfolio and we are pleased to have completed the first 34,000sqm in Stage 1, welcoming Valleyfresh, eStore Logistics, Lyppard and our forth tenant to the Estate.
“We continue to see strong demand for quality logistics assets in Marsden Park and the broader western Sydney area and are excited to be soon commencing Stage 2 of the Estate with the development of Orrcon Steel’s new facility, which we announced recently. Stage 2 and 3 will see us develop an additional 75,000sqm of new facilities to meet the growing demand in this area,” Mr Searle added.
Orrcon Steel has committed to a long term lease on a 16,000sqm warehouse and office facility which will see the company relocate its Sydney operations to Marsden Park to accommodate the storage and distribution of various steel products.
Marsden Park Logistics Estate is owned by LOGOS Australia Logistics Venture (LALV), a partnership established in late 2014 between LOGOS and its capital partners to acquire and develop prime, logistics estates across Australia. LOGOS’ Australian and New Zealand portfolio includes assets and developments across New South, Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland and Auckland, with its development pipeline standing at over A$2 billion.
