Leading Asia-Pacific logistics specialist, LOGOS, with venture partners KKR and Mubadala Investment Company, has today announced that Winning Group, one of Australia’s leading retail companies, has committed to a 45,740 sqm distribution centre at its new Wacol Logistics Hub; the first pre-commitment at the premier Brisbane logistics hub.
Winning Group is a multi-award winning, fourth generation Australian family-owned business, and one of Australia’s most trusted retailers. The distribution centre will be the base of the Winning Group’s logistics business, Winning Services, which will service the Group’s businesses Appliances Online, Winning Appliances, Rogerseller and Home Clearance and third party logistics partners including, King Living, iFit and Sub-Zero & Wolf. The new facility is the first commitment at LOGOS’ Wacol Logistics Hub, an 18.2-hectare site located in the heart of Brisbane’s industrial south west. The Estate is strategically positioned at the interchange of Ipswich and Logan Motorways in Queensland, just 23 kms southwest of Brisbane CBD, offering immediate exposure and access to Brisbane’s key arterial road networks.
The site was acquired off-market from Fletcher Building in April 2021 and plays a key role in developing logistics facilities across the key eastern seaboard markets in Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Winning Group’s facility, which will target a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating, will incorporate a drive around cross dock, with 15 meter counter levered awnings, 28 recessed loading docks, 35 meter hardstands and 264 car parks. Practical completion is scheduled for completion in September 2022.
LOGOS’ Head of Australia & New Zealand, Darren Searle said: “We are excited to be developing a new facility in Brisbane for Winning Group at the Wacol Logistics Hub. Over the past few years we have been seeing a strong shift towards e-fulfilment and LOGOS’ regional expertise in automation and high spec facility design means we are well placed to deliver an industry-leading facility for Winning Group and meet this broader market demand.
“The Wacol Logistics Hub is a strategic infill site that provides outstanding opportunities for occupiers looking to enhance and strengthen their last mile delivery capabilities. We’re pleased have secured this commitment three months after settlement, committing 46% of available space at the Estate,” Mr Searle added.
Mick Bunt, General Manager, Winning Services said: “We are excited to be partnering with LOGOS to create a world-class facility for our logistics business, Winning Services, in Queensland. The location of our new DC will ensure that our Queensland customers will continue to receive our industry-leading, free next-day delivery through our own fleet of trucks. With some of the highest Net Promoter Scores in the world for logistics, Winning Services is a leader in big and bulky warehousing and end mile customer experience. Logistics has been at the core of the Group’s success and we look forward to its opening in September this year”.
LOGOS’ General Manager Development Queensland, Justin Sherlock added: “The remainder of the site is being speculatively developed with 54,689 sqm of space, with stage 2 available from September 2022 of 12,870sqm. We expect the Estate will be completed within the next 18 months.
